Burning Your Boats by Angela Carter
Angela Carter, was an English writer known for her feminist, magical realist style. Carter was ranked tenth in The New York Times list of "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945. She is best known for her short stories which are collected in Burning Your Boats and The Bloody Chamber.
In this collected volume of short stories, Carter reinvents classic folklore and fairy tails with sometimes tawdry, sometimes whimsical, and sometimes feminist twists. In this book cover design I wanted to reflect her vivid and often shocking vignettes and her taste for the fantastic, while using photography rather than illustration to convey her modern sensibility.
